The school year is near the end and that means..fancy events to showcase the fancy abilities of the students..which is really showing how they learned to boss other people around and pick out furniture? Basically they're proving to mummy and daddy that they can run the business later on in life. Naturally the host club is gonna host club but on a much grander, much larger scale. Not only serving their regulars, but the parental units..and that includes the host club family members as well...and boy are family dynamics complicated with these richy rich boys. Kyoya's dad is displeased, Tamaki's dad (also the principal/chairman of the academy) refuses to acknowledge his paternity on school grounds and then there's Tamaki's grandma..who is less grandma and more devil that crawled out from the pit of hell. Yikes! Let's unpack all this in this week's therapy session.

When two people love each other they get together and...make a host club?! That's what this episode is about, daddy Tamaki and mommy Kyoya coming together before starting their first year of high school and making a plan to start a club of their own. At first Kyoya's real dad demands he get to know Tamaki because of his family and how beneficial it would be to have him as a friend. Tamaki being the free-spirited boy he is is driving Kyoya up the wall with his silly antics and ideas but our favorite cool guy hangs in there because of the pressure from his father. We're just glad that we get to peer into the past and see how these two actually find out how to balance each other out for the better.

We continue where we left off, with Bossanova getting a good ol' gander at Haruhi's back. Salacious! At least boss-man's fears are put to rest that he is indeed very straight and his hormones weren't leading him wrong after all. However...this leads to some different complications. The gang of boyish charms force Bossy-boi to keep his mouth shut about Haruhi's situation. Still, this does not deter the young yakuza-leader-in-training to request Haruhi during Host Club hours. Tamaki is definitely having non of it, but instead of being overbearing, he begins to fall into a deep depression because his smothering ways have not wooed our lady-in-disguise and maybe she'll fall for this redheaded gangster. Luckily Haruhi says the right thing at the right thing, even though she stumbled into it saying it, giving Tamaki the hope he had lost and Bossanova a sense of relief all in one fell swoop. Yay.

What does one do when all they want to do is play some kid games with some friends but they have an intimidating face? They go to the other intimidating teen on campus (who everyone loves) and begs them to teach them their ways. Well, that's what happens to Takashi, anyways, as a gangster's son pleads for help to make friends so he can play kick the can. No, no, I am literally not joking. He mentions playing kick the can as much as I talk about my obsession with husbandos. This is an interesting episode that basically is a 23 minute episode about not judging a book by it's cover and we even have a return appearance from some characters we've seen before. Keep a keen eye out as we talk about this gruff boy just lookin for some friends.

It's okay to be celebrating a little spoopy season in the month of May, right? Cause that's what we're doin'. With a scaredy-cat class president at the helm of class 1-A, they all vote for a test of courage theme to celebrate the holiday. Reluctantly, president Soga swallows his fears in hopes that his vice-president, Momoka, finally notices him. Pure love truly can withstand the jelly spine of a pining teenager. Which, really, there's not a lot to be afraid of. The whole school is basically covered in Jack-O-Lanterns and that's about it as far as decorating goes. So disappointing for the school of the elite. I've seen scarier scenes in the frozen pizza aisle at Walmart in the middle of July.
Also one of the twins correlates Tamaki's 'family' he built out of the host club to a pumpkin. I think it's a bit of a stretch, but hey, we all get a little carried away while trying to be deep and stuff.

It's another Twin-centric episode, babies! Yet again we see the twins getting up to some chaos as we revisit their past. Not only do we see the same scene of them teasing a girl who just wanted to play with them as kids, but we fast forward to middle school where their pranks become even crueler. I don't know if they're trying to give these two an angsty background, but they're just coming off as jerks solely because "no one can tell us apart". IDK boys, maybe one of you grow out your hair..or something. Either way, with all of their shenanigans of breaking girl's hearts, Tamaki still demands these two join the host club before they even get to high school. The dedication is truly something else. So let's go down yet another memory as we yet again witness the angst of sharing a face with someone.

This must be what it feels like to be cursed because the worst antagonists of this show have appeared again..just when we thought it was safe. I'd rather step on a Lego and then proceed to stub my pinky toe on furniture legs every day for five months than have to be witness to the atrocity that are the Lobelia girls..but here we are. Yes, these toxic, strapping lad-ies are back at it again. This time proceeding to straight up kidnap Haruhi and force her to be their dancing monkey. They insist she be in their play because Haruhi's mom was apparently a Lobelia girl. First of all, this is not feminism. Kidnapping someone and forcing them to do something out of guilt or shame is not it, fam. Also it was Benibara's (Leader of the Double Standard Squad) attempt to take Haruhi's first kiss in front of the Host Club...for REVENGE. Girl, you're creepy. Stop that. Get some help. Needless to say this is just not a win-win for Haruhi...or those that watch this episode. Yikes!

For any of you that have siblings you can relate to having fights and bickering with your sib(s) for just about anything. Honey-senpai's family takes it to a whole other level. Being such a prestige family that were the originators of a style of karate, it's important that the next head of the family to be serious and not at all cutesy. Little sibling Chika detests Honey's way of life since he's been in the host club and decides to battle it out with his older brother to...make him stop eating three whole cakes...at midnight? Honestly, weird flex, but alright. I guess that's a sibling thing to fight about instead of just staying in your room and minding your own business. Who I am I to judge someone's family dynamics? I'm just a girl dreaming about real family conflicts that are worth fighting about between these two bros. Ah well...Alright, good talk, fam.

Imagine working into the wee hours of the morning and finally crashing into bed. Ah, that's the only place we'd ever want to be. Now imagine getting rudely woken up by your gang of friends two hours later as they barge into your room and demand you get up. Even worse...they want you to go out in public. Poor Kyoya being the youngest boy of the Ootori family so he's working himself to the bone to prove himself. All he wants is to sleep but instead the goof gang drags him to a "commoner's market" so these elite teens can understand where Haruhi is coming from. Still sleeping, the hosts dress Kyoya and then immediately drop him off on a bench at the market without his phone or wallet. Cool. Well, lucky for our boy he wakes up and runs into Haruhi who gets to understand Kyoya just a bit more.

With the appearance of a previous friend of Haruhi's from middle school, a bit of Haruhi's past is revealed. Well, not a lot of it, just that she's kind of an airhead that somehow is booksmart..supposedly. Jury is still out on that. Anyways, the two of them strolling down memory lane obviously makes Tamaki a jealous boy, but also another. Hikaru decides this is the time to release that angy boy energy over this newcomer and somehow that earns him a date with Haruhi? I don't know. It's weird and Haruhi ends up wearing some awful, fake curly pigtail extensions and a weird dress. Should honestly fire her stylist. It was a bad look to match this date to be honest. Find out just how much of a dumpster fire this whole episode is. Yikes!
